There is no point in just having one point of flattening out to catch the light, when the light comes in pools, splots, splashes and droplets. Best to play the game.
After all, it’s a rare day that more than a little dim light gets through the forest canopy. Note how even self-shading is not an issue, when leaves are broken up. Talk about being supple!
