What Horses Hate to See

Travellers hate to see it, too.

Fences aren’t for keeping horses in.

  1. Horses have very delicate digestive tracts. The fence is for keeping the (English speaking, clearly) tourists OUT! Apparently it’s been an issue. The sign writer seems to be frustrated, don’t you get that sense?
PS my last horse only spoke German when I got him. He learned English more quickly than I learned German (I’ve lost the capacity to make the sounds you need) so after a few months English became our language of communication. It was necessary for me to learn a few critical German words at first though (like whoa!)

    • Precisely! I love the way lines appear to have been added to the sign … then more! English is the international language in Iceland, so it could be keeping everyone out, except the Icelanders who have their own horse. Did your horse speak German with an accent?
