If Isaac Newton could remove colour from human experience of the world and silence it as a subject of scientific investigation simply by reducing it to a pattern of mathematics, and …
if he could do solid work in this way on the project of turning human experience into a series of random echoes of the mathematics of physics…
we can open our eyes.
Palette of Purple Royalty, Yellow Roma, and Soybeans, with Radish Pods…
…just as I shelled them, after collecting them from the garden after being away from the garden when they ripened for fresh eating.
Colour is not mathematics. Nor is it art. It is a reflection of deep principles, lost to Newton, yet still available to us. Beauty is a tool of science. Pass it on.
