A Tiny Crop of Big Peaches

Last December, it got cold. See that?

That’s 30 Below at the airport, so 29 Below up here in the sunbelt. The was on the 29th. I figured I wouldn’t have any peaches at all, which was confirmed at blossom time, but at the very end, a few tiny, hard secondary buds opened and threw out a few petals. And look now!

27 peaches in all. That’s not 300 pounds, but it’s beautiful nonetheless. These peaches were on very high branches, which I had left because the tree is getting crowded by trees on both side of the fence. It’s going to be higher next year, because that’s how it has grown out of the damage. Pretty great!
